"The Silent Waltz of the Many" brachte rund fünfzig Bürger*innen aus Wuppertal, darunter viele mit Migrationsgeschichte, zusammen, um gemeinsam mit professionellen Tänzer*innen, Musiker*innen, bildenden Künstler*innen und Fotograf*innen in eine immersive Performance einzutauchen, die im Pina Bausch Zentrum Wuppertal Under Construction aufgeführt wurde. Eine vorübergehende Gemeinschaft, die nicht auf Ähnlichkeiten, sondern auf einer geteilten Erfahrung aufbaute. Die Performance ist vorbei, aber der NACHHALL DER MANY klingt noch: drei offene Begegnungsformate an drei verschiedenen Orten der Stadt. Jedes Format ist anders, jedes hat seinen eigenen Fokus und seine eigene kleine Überraschung, jedes wird vom Ort geprägt, der es beherbergt. Räume, in denen sich das künstlerische Team, die Teilnehmenden der Gemeinschaft, Partnerinstitutionen und die Öffentlichkeit als gleichberechtigte Partner*innen begegnen.
Das erste Format in der Tanz Station begann beim Körper: bei Erinnerung, Erzählung und dem, was Bewegung in sich trägt, wenn Worte nicht ausreichen.
Dieses zweite Format in der INSEL bewegt sich nach außen, zur Stadt hin. Zu Institutionen, zu Rollen, zu Verantwortung. Wer öffnet die Türen, und für wen? Was bedeutet es, Raum zu schaffen für Kunst, die nicht nahtlos in bestehende Kategorien passt? Was brauchen freie Künstler*innen, Vereine und Häuser voneinander, damit solche Arbeit nicht die Ausnahme bleibt, sondern Teil des kulturellen Alltags dieser Stadt wird?
Und es gibt noch etwas: An diesem Vormittag zeigen wir eine kurze Tanzperformance und stellen einige der Künstler*innen vor, die im kommenden Jahr Teil der neuen Produktion sein werden. Tänzer*innen, die im Mai 2026 bei den Dance Unit Finals in Innsbruck ausgewählt wurden. Ein erster Blick auf das, was als Nächstes entsteht.
Alle Begegnungsformate sind moderiert und kostenlos. Jede*r ist willkommen, ganz gleich, ob man Teil der Performance war, sie gesehen hat oder ihr zum ersten Mal begegnet. Kommt als neugierige Zuhörer*innen. Kommt als Denker*innen. Kommt als jemand, der einfach nur im Raum sein will, wenn etwas Echtes passiert.

The Silent Waltz of the Many brought around fifty citizens of Wuppertal, many with migration histories, together with professional dancers, musicians, visual artists and photographers, in an immersive performance that unfolded through the spaces of the Pina Bausch Zentrum Wuppertal. A temporary community, built not on similarity but on shared experience. The performance is over, but the reverberation continues.
NACHHALL DER MANY is what comes after: three open gatherings in three different places in the city. Each one is different, each has its own focus and its own small surprise, each is shaped by the house that holds it. These are not simple talks or Q&As. They are spaces where the artistic team, community participants, partner institutions and the public meet as equals.
The first gathering at Tanz Station began with the body: with memory, storytelling, and what movement carries when words are not enough.
This second gathering at Theater INSEL moves outward, toward the city. Toward institutions, roles and responsibility. Who opens the doors, and for whom? What does it mean to make space for art that does not fit neatly into existing categories? What do independent artists, Vereine and houses need from one another so that this kind of work becomes part of the everyday cultural life of this city rather than an exception?
And there is something else. That morning we will show a short dance performance and introduce some of the artists who will be part of next year's new production, dancers I selected at the Dance Unit finals in Innsbruck in May 2026. A first glimpse of what comes next.
All gatherings are moderated and free. Everyone is welcome, whether you were part of the performance, saw it, or are meeting it for the first time. Come as a curious listener. Come as a thinker. Come as someone who simply wants to be in the room when something real happens.
